Weekend Fun

Mom and Dad were here over the weekend. Their plan was to stay until Monday morning and head home, but Hurricane Sandy had other news for them.

I was so excited when they decided to stay with us and wait it out! Sunday night we made homemade donuts!

We used a recipe from

But I found a recipe I will try next from

I babysat Monday but Mom and dad wanted to take us to Bob Evans for lunch, so we ventured out in the cold weather!

We had a beautiful sunset Monday night and woke up to SNOW on Tuesday. Such a beautiful weekend!

New hobby

I learned to crochet when I was younger! My grandma Boone always wanted all of her grandkids to learn! I thought it was fun and I've made quite a few chains in my life but what good is a long crocheted chain? I've made bracelets, necklaces, all the fun teenage stuff! I didn't think I would ever want to just sit and crochet a blanket or anything that actually took time, but then Pinterest came into my life.... And if something is on Pinterest, if course I'm going to want to give it a try! Now I'm in love! Here are my first crochet projects...

My weekend!

I had a great weekend. Im missing my family, but thats no new thing! Its Monday and even though I dont like Monday's, the weather is perfect, its breezy with some sun! My weekend was busy but lots of fun! Friday night I went out to eat and to the movies with some of my new Lima girlfriends. Saturday I spent some much needed time with my sister in law, Mary, and then went out to eat AGAIN and hung out with some of our wonderful friends from church! Sunday was a BIG day. We woke up at the crack of dawn to head down to the Springfield Extravaganza, Antique Flea Market with Jordans family and spent the entire day there, and at Target, and Marshalls. Here are some of my favorite finds!

For some reason the blues really stood out to me! :)

and I didnt spend more money than we took..

Have a great week everyone!

Family!

I got a nice surprise this weekend. We were already so excited that my parents were coming to visit, and it seemed like the past week went by super slow. They rolled in late Thursday night on a donut tire, because they popped one when they were almost here.

We were ready for a relaxing weekend just us 4, little did we know. On friday night late Mom and I had fell asleep on the couches and Dad and Jordan had already went to bed. I was dreaming of people knocking on the windows and doors and when I opened my eyes, I saw Laurie's face in the window. I ran to the door (still half asleep) to find the whole family (minus Macy) and we all squealed and gave hugs! Dad came down from upstairs, and Jordan came out from the bedroom with huge eyes. Mom was the only one that knew. :)
It was awesome.

Way better than getting a relaxing weekend.
We all got to be together for 2 whole days!
Now they are gone, but they left some things behind.

They are probably missing their comforter, backscratcher, mascara, and comb. But they are probably doing more good here, because everytime I've looked at them I think of home and the good times we had this weekend.

I love them!

Granny singing.

Granny is on the right.

Top right.

Wasn't she beautiful?!

Granny Boone has been on my mind lately. Oh how I miss her. Here is a thing or 2 about her.

I act like her in so many ways its not funny.
She taught me how to crochet.
She LOVED to craft.
She laughed until she cried (a lot).
She lived with us for 8 (?) years.
Once at the beach house she said "Now, I dont normally make a habit of stealing but I LOVE this mug". :)
She sang the "West Virginia Hills" song. A lot.

She LOVED to dip her spoon in the applesauce jar even when she had plenty on her plate.

Oh how I loved her.

She taught me to be a Woman who loves God.
She told anyone and everyone that I was her "youngest granddaughter".
She loved chocolate. (I do too)
She snuck chocolate and left the papers and when we questioned her she just laughed and laughed.
She loved me to brush her hair.
When she could no longer get up she insisted we leave the dishes for her to wash.

Bless her.

She made me a lot of doll clothes.
She insisted a kiss from every single person at Christmas.
Everyone called her Granny. (whether she was or not)

She loved her husband for many many years.
Even after she forgot many of us, she still knew him by his picture.
She said "Thats my sweetheart".
He was a lucky man.

She stuck her bottom dentures out at every child that ever came over.
She never wanted to be alone.
I got to hold her hand when she took her last breath.
I always thought death would be scary, but it was peaceful because she was going to meet her Jesus.

I could go on and on.
I have many precious thoughts of my Granny.

I know she would have loved to have seen me get married, but someday I will see her again!

I love you Granny.

She crocheted these for my dolls when I was little.

A doily she made, that I have.

These 2 sets of dishes were my "wedding gift"
(Before I even knew Jordan) :)

A crocheted table cloth.

Im not a fan of hearts, but this was my graduation gift, and I love it.

Another quilt from her.

She loved the same colors as me appearantly and birds :)
This was hers.
